PBO launches new service to cost proposals for upcoming federal election campaign
The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) will officially launch Canada’s first service to provide voters with independent cost estimates of election campaign proposals. The PBO, Yves Giroux, will hold a news conference to discuss the office’s new role in the lead-up to the 2019 election and how the office will work with political parties and independent Members of Parliament to increase transparency during the campaign. Senior Director Jason Jacques will join Mr. Giroux at the news conference. Details about the PBO’s new election proposal costing service will also be posted on the PBO web site at www.pbo-dpb.gc.ca.
